3. A beautiful blue pond that changes with the seasons

~ Spring ~

Biei Blue Pond
The long winter has come to an end, and the blue pond is eagerly awaiting the thaw. However, it is still quite cold in the mornings, and the surface of the water sometimes freezes over.

Biei Blue PondThe frozen surface of the water acts like white sand, and the subtle blue contrast visible through the gaps is a beautiful sight. Yet, the forest is beginning to show its young leaves, a sign of spring's arrival.

~ Summer ~

While they are always blue, this season offers the best conditions for them to display their beauty. Those conditions are "no wind, no rain, and sunny weather."

This is a delicate pond whose appearance changes with even the slightest ripple on the water's surface due to the wind, so when all the conditions are met, its beauty is breathtaking.

~ Autumn ~

Biei Blue PondThe foot of Mount Tokachi sometimes sees its first snowfall as early as October. Although the period for viewing autumn foliage is short, the reflection of the forest in the pond is truly beautiful.

~ Winter ~

Biei Blue Pond Until 2013, the Blue Pond was closed during the winter, but since December 2014, it has been illuminated during the winter season. The lights illuminating the pure white snow that accumulates on the Blue Pond create an even more fantastical world.
