As of 2018, there are more than 20 wineries in Hokkaido.
While there are large wineries whose products you often see in supermarkets, there are actually many small, locally-based wineries as well.
This time, I visited "Hakkensan Winery," a winery located in Sapporo City.

1. What kind of place is "Hakkensan Winery"?

It's about a 30-minute drive from the center of Sapporo.
"Hakkensan Winery" began shipping wines in 2012.
All the wines we produce are Hokkaido-made wines, using only ingredients sourced from Hokkaido.
We make wine using grapes sourced from our own farm and contracted farmers throughout Hokkaido, as well as apples.
In addition to wine, they also sell their own produced jams, syrups, and ciders.
Even those who don't drink alcohol can thoroughly enjoy this facility.
2. Perfect for souvenirs! Wine shop

The Hakkensan Winery has a wine shop located within its brewery.
The shop offers a wide variety of unique wines made with locally sourced ingredients, as well as numerous agricultural products made from local fruits.

Wild grape wine is a precious wine made from wild grapes grown in the Sapporo area.
This green apple hard cider is made with apples from Yoichi and is characterized by its refreshing taste.
We've been brewing this wine since the winery was founded, and it's a product that Hakkensan Winery is very proud of!
This is a syrup made from fruits grown in Hokkaido.
The plum syrup uses plums from farmers near the Hakkensan Winery.
At the tasting corner, you can sample several types of wine, as well as jams and syrups.

The wine shop's second floor also features a rest area and observation deck where you can relax and enjoy the wine you've purchased.
From the observation deck, you can also see Mt. Hakkensan!
3. Conclusion
Hakkensan Winery is a recommended spot for those who come to enjoy Hokkaido's agricultural products.
Besides wine, they also have a wide variety of processed products made with agricultural produce from Hokkaido, so the whole family can enjoy it.
Why not take a trip to Hakkensan Winery, located amidst the magnificent natural beauty of Hokkaido?
