1. Hokkaido Shrine
First, let me introduce Hokkaido Shrine, one of Hokkaido's most representative shrines.
Hokkaido Shrine in Sapporo is a power spot that has been loved by the people of Hokkaido for over 140 years since its founding in 1869.
This shrine, built to protect Hokkaido, the northern frontier, is said to have been constructed on land chosen based on feng shui principles, where the energies of "earth," "water," "fire," and "wind" converge.

Surrounded by the greenery of Maruyama Park, the shrine grounds maintain the dignity of a Shinto shrine while also exuding the open-heartedness of the northern land.
Its simple and gentle energy soothes our weary hearts in our daily lives.

One of the deities enshrined at this shrine, Okunitama-no-kami, is also a god of matchmaking, making it a recommended shrine for those wishing to pray for love or marriage!

2. Maruyama Primeval Forest
Next up is the "Maruyama Primeval Forest," which stretches around Maruyama, not far from Hokkaido Shrine.
Located in the heart of Sapporo, this place offers a taste of Hokkaido's unique, wild energy. It's a healing spot that you should definitely visit along with Hokkaido Shrine!

There are walking decks in the primeval forest, so you can easily stroll around even without hiking boots!
It's a short walking course, about 30 minutes, but you can fully enjoy the forest atmosphere.
As you step into the woods, the sound of cars is drowned out despite the nearby road, and the surroundings are filled with the rustling of trees, the chirping of birds, and the babbling of a stream, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
Just walking around, you can absorb the energy of the trees, and your spirits will be lifted!
If you're lucky, you might even spot Hokkaido squirrels or chipmunks!

Mount Maruyama is a small mountain, only 225 meters high, but it was revered as a "sacred mountain" by the Ainu people of old. The summit is less than an hour away, so why not challenge yourself to climb it and experience the power of ancient times?

3. Hokkaido Shrine Tongu (temporary shrine)
1. As mentioned earlier, Hokkaido Shrine actually has a place of worship (a place where deities are worshipped from a distance) located about a 5-minute walk from the TV Tower!

In the early Meiji era, before subways or buses existed, Hokkaido Shrine became difficult to visit in winter due to the snow. Therefore, this "Tongu" (temporary shrine) was established in 11 as a place of worship from afar.
Just looking at the large sacred tree on the temple grounds makes you feel like you're receiving healing power!
This shrine, like Hokkaido Shrine in Maruyama Park, enshrines Okunitama-no-kami, the god of matchmaking, so it is definitely a place that people hoping for a good relationship should visit.
In particular, the guardian lion-dogs on the temple grounds are said to bring good luck in love and are popular with women, so try asking them for improved luck in love!

4. Jozankei
Next, I'll show you around Jozankei, a hot spring resort on the outskirts of Sapporo.
Jozankei is an ancient hot spring resort known to the Ainu people even before Hokkaido was settled. While it's now a popular tourist destination for Sapporo residents, its healing properties are also exceptional, making it a true power spot!

In this small valley, the energies of fire and water converge and gather, eventually emerging as abundant hot springs.

Located in the heart of this hot spring resort area, Jozankei Shrine is said to have originated as a shrine dedicated to Amaterasu Omikami. Although it is a small shrine, it is also known for its strong healing power.

The shrine grounds have a simple yet beautiful appearance and are well-maintained, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere reminiscent of a hot spring. While it is usually a quiet shrine, it becomes bustling with people during the annual festival in September.

Another power spot in Jozankei is the Iwato Kannon-do Temple. This temple is also famous for its miraculous powers! Many worshippers visit seeking success in love, business prosperity, and traffic safety.

5. Mount Yotei and Fukidashi Park
Mount Yotei is an ancient volcano also known as "Ezo Fuji."
It is said that the last eruption was about 6000 years ago, and although there are no records of eruptions in Japanese history, it still maintains its volcanic power!
Leaving Sapporo, passing through Jozankei and crossing Nakayama Pass, Mount Yotei unfolds before your eyes.

Mount Yotei shrouded in morning mist. I was overwhelmed by the beautiful sight of the mountain!
Mount Yotei in summer.
At the foot of Mount Yotei is a park known for its abundant spring water sources, called "Fukidashi Park."
The spring water here has been selected as one of the "100 Best Waters of Japan" by the Ministry of the Environment.
The rain and snow that falls on Mount Yotei seeps into the mountain, is slowly filtered, and then springs forth as powerful, flowing water!
This is another power spot overflowing with the energy of fire (Mt. Yotei) and water (spring water).
In particular, this spring water has purifying properties and is highly recommended for refreshing yourself. It will wash away the fatigue from love and relationships!

6. Lake Toya
Next, I'll introduce you to Lake Toya.

Lake Toya is located near two volcanoes, Mount Usu and Showa Shinzan.

This place is popular among Hokkaido power spot enthusiasts because it is a place where the energies of earth, water, fire, and wind are in harmony.
Mount Usu, in particular, has erupted four times in the last 100 years, making it a land that can strongly benefit from the energy of fire.
Just being around the lake is incredibly relaxing, but soaking in the hot springs allows you to directly receive the power of nature, so you can expect great healing effects!
Toyako Onsen is a sodium-calcium bicarbonate, sulfate, and chloride spring. Originally known as a mild hot spring for its skin-beautifying properties, it's said to have gained even more variety after the 2000 eruption of Mount Usu. Why not try the power of the volcano in this hot spring and aim for beautiful skin?

7. Noboribetsu Jigokudani (Hell Valley)
This is a power spot in Noboribetsu Onsen, which consistently ranks among the top hot springs in Japan.

While the hot springs are definitely recommended, Jigokudani (Hell Valley) is a place you should definitely visit.
Jigokudani (Hell Valley) is said to be the site of a volcanic eruption.

Upon entering the area, you're greeted by a strong sulfurous smell and steam rising from all directions. It's quite a frightening sight, but it allows you to truly feel the breath of the Earth.
This is truly a spot where you can safely receive the powerful energy of a magnificent volcanic eruption!
If you thoroughly heal your mind and body in a hot spring, get smooth and radiant skin, and then recharge your energy in Jigokudani (Hell Valley), you can expect to boost your feminine charm!

8. Toma Limestone Cave
Next, we'd like to introduce you to the Toma Limestone Cave.
This is located in the Asahikawa area, so it might be a good idea to include it as a stopover when visiting Asahiyama Zoo in your travel plans!

This cavern was formed by groundwater over 150 million years, and it is a place where the power of water is extremely strong.
The power of this place is so immense that there is a legend that a pair of dragons (a coiled dragon) live here.
(Photo courtesy of Asahikawa City Tourism Division)
Upon entering, you are enveloped in a cool breeze, and at the same time, it feels as if the cloudiness in your heart is being gradually absorbed away.
Since the Dragon God is also a water deity, the purifying effect of water energy will likely leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated, both physically and mentally.

It might be a good idea to pray for a successful relationship to the pair of dragons said to live in the limestone cave!

10. Lake Kussharo (Kussharo Caldera)
Finally, the last place I'd like to introduce is Lake Kussharo, located in the Akan National Park in eastern Hokkaido.

Formed long ago by a volcanic eruption, the Kussharo Caldera is the largest in Japan, and even today, you can feel the powerful energy of "fire" at Mount Iozan, where plumes of sulfurous smoke still billow up.

And at Lake Kussharo, known as the world's second-largest caldera lake, you can feel the immense power of water and the unique natural energy of Kussharo.
From February to early March, the ice on the frozen lake rises up, creating the "Omiwatari," Japan's largest ice formation phenomenon.
Numerous hot springs gush forth along the lakeshore.
And something I absolutely want you to see with your own eyes is the sea of clouds that spreads out over the Kussharo Caldera. The sea of clouds, illuminated so majestically by the light of the rising sun, is so awe-inspiring that it will leave you speechless.
