Kitami City, located in eastern Hokkaido, boasts the largest land area in the prefecture.
In the past, Kitami City was a major producer of mint, accounting for about 7% of the world's mint market.
Years later, they decided to use mint once again to revitalize the town, teaming up with local businesses to create a premium "chocolate mint ice cream."
This time, we'll bring you information about the unveiling of a newly created specialty product and events at the Kitami Peppermint Memorial Museum, which served as the venue for the event.

1. How is this different from regular "chocolate mint ice cream"?
When you hear "chocolate mint ice cream," it doesn't sound particularly unusual.
You can buy it at convenience stores, and it's also served at cafes and ice cream shops.
However, the "chocolate mint ice cream" we're introducing today is a product that sets itself apart from ordinary ice cream.
What makes it different from the average one? Let's take a look at the key differences.
2. Key features of "Chocolate Mint Ice Cream"
This "chocolate mint ice cream" is made with carefully selected ingredients, not just for its appearance, but also for its taste.
Even at a glance, you should be able to see that it's different from what's sold commercially.
The ice cream is made with fresh milk from Teshikaga.
Furthermore, we insisted on using only Hokkaido-sourced ingredients, down to the sugar and fresh cream.
The fact that it contains absolutely no additives is another great point.
It has a mild flavor that even children can enjoy, so please try it together!

This "chocolate mint ice cream" is currently being offered only at yakiniku (Japanese barbecue) restaurants on a trial basis.
Yakiniku (grilled meat) is a specialty of Kitami, but after the meal, you often crave something refreshing.
In times like these, chocolate mint ice cream is the perfect dessert!
We also plan to offer it at cafes and other establishments in the future.
I'm looking forward to seeing what form the "chocolate mint ice cream" will take when it's served.
4. Scenes from the first unveiling event
The season chosen for the unveiling of "Chocolate Mint Ice Cream" was winter.
The event was held at the Peppermint Distillation Hall, next to the Peppermint Museum, where you can learn about the history of peppermint in Kitami.
Most people wouldn't be able to eat ice cream in this cold. BUT, the people of Kitami, who enjoy the cold, are different!
As evidenced by the "Extreme Cold Barbecue Festival" held in February, the people of Kitami have a regional characteristic of being able to enjoy both the cold and the heat. The unveiling was a great success.
5. The "Noel" event at the Peppermint Museum.
The "Christmas Event Noel" was held at the Peppermint Memorial Museum.
In the crisp, cold air, the mint museum, illuminated by the light, was truly beautiful.
There were various activities at the event, but what caught my attention the most was the opportunity to make mint cream.
Finding your favorite scent and putting it in a dazzling case would make for a wonderful memory!
The performance concludes with a gentle classical guitar melody.
The high ceilings of the Peppermint Distillation Hall allowed the beautiful sounds to resonate beautifully, creating a soothing atmosphere for visitors.
6. Conclusion
The "chocolate mint ice cream" unveiled this time was something new and unlike anything that had been available before.
It's so delicious, it might just change your perception of mint.
In Kitami City, famous for its yakiniku (Japanese barbecue), why not finish off your meal with some chocolate mint ice cream?
