From sowing seeds, cultivating, harvesting, processing, and delivering... Koyu Seikatsu Co., Ltd. is an agricultural corporation that handles everything from production to sales of pesticide-free, organically grown herbs and vegetables.

Driven by a desire to deliver safe and secure herbs and vegetables to consumers, we, as producers, always approach product development from the consumer's perspective.

Kitami City has a cool summer climate with little rain and low humidity, and its basin location with few strong winds makes it an ideal place for herb cultivation. In the past, mint production was thriving there, and at its peak, it accounted for about 70% of the world market.

The herbs grown in this fertile and rich land by "(Co., Ltd.) Koyu Seikatsu" are certified organic, and their particularly high-quality German chamomile is processed into herbal teas, candies, and skincare products under the registered trademark name "Okhotsk Chamomile®".

The chamomile, which is carefully hand-picked one by one, is harvested every year from late June to the end of July, and when I visited in mid-July, all the staff were out there working.

2. Kitami City "Organic Vege café Hanon"

"Organic Vege café Hanon" is located next to a field. Situated on a hill a little distance from the hustle and bustle of Kitami city center, it's a quiet, hidden gem of a café surrounded by trees.

This is a place where you can enjoy lunches and herbal teas made with freshly picked 100% organic herbs and vegetables. Based on the concept of "food that is kind to the mind and body," we offer a menu that you can eat with peace of mind.

The restaurant has a cozy log cabin-like atmosphere, where herbs are subtly placed on the tables in the summer, and the warmth of the fireplace creates a cozy feeling in the colder months, allowing you to enjoy the changing seasons.

In addition to several types of lunch plates (which come with soup, a small salad, and herbal tea), the menu also includes pasta, pizza, and keema curry, with prices starting from 1000 yen (excluding tax).

Our menu primarily features organic vegetables and legumes, without using meat or fish. However, some dishes do contain cheese, butter, or eggs, so if you have any allergies, please ask our staff.

Have you heard the term "macrobiotics" somewhere before? It's a hot topic, especially among health-conscious people.

It's a dietary approach that emphasizes the balance of yin and yang in ingredients, and the cafe also offers a special "macrobiotic set meal" menu.

Our classic "Black Soybean Flour Chiffon Cake" is made with 100% homemade organic black soybean flour and no wheat flour, making it a dessert that can be enjoyed with peace of mind even by those with wheat allergies.

This visually stunning salad features edible flowers and is a limited-time menu item available annually from mid-July to the end of September, depending on the blooming season of the flowers.

The generously piled fresh arugula has a slightly spicy taste, the nasturtiums (yellow and orange flowers) have a horseradish-like flavor, and the chervil (green, jagged leaves), a herb often seen as a cake topping, actually has a faint taste similar to cilantro... and so on, there are lots of discoveries to be made!

The blue, star-shaped borage flowers that bloom shyly, facing downwards, the vibrant pink clove pink, and cornflowers in blue, white, and pink – these edible flowers that add color to salads have made me want to try growing them at home.

When choosing herbal tea, what do you pay attention to? It's fun to consider your preferences, your physical condition, or even the color of the tea.

This herb, called blue mallow despite its pink color, is a fascinating plant that turns purple when dried and then changes to blue when hot water is poured over it.

There's even a blue blended herbal tea that evokes the image of the Sea of Okhotsk, so try to find your favorite herbal tea that you can enjoy not only for its color but also for its beauty.

When autumn arrives, the maple trees in front of the cafe turn red, yellow, and orange, creating a very romantic atmosphere... It's an autumn scene that the cafe staff raves about.

They are also willing to accommodate private bookings for small gatherings or parties, so if you have an event planned or are simply intrigued by the atmosphere, please contact the cafe directly.
