1. What is the Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo?

Some of you may be wondering why the Munich Christmas Market came to be held in Sapporo in the first place.
Sapporo City and Munich City in Germany established a sister city relationship in 1972.
This event was started in 2002 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the sister city relationship.
This event, now in its 17th year in 2018, has become a well-established way to experience Christmas in Sapporo.
The "Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo" will be held at Odori Park 2-chome. Here, you can buy a variety of Christmas goods and candles, as well as enjoy German food such as mulled wine and sausages.

The event will be held from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
After 4 PM, the sun gradually sets and it gets darker, and it gets colder. The Christmas spirit intensifies as it gets dark, so please dress warmly with gloves and a scarf to enjoy the event.

You can enjoy the Christmas market from midday onwards!
2. How to enjoy the Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo
Let's take a look at this year's "Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo" (Odori Park 2-chome).
At the booths selling merchandise, you'll find a wide variety of items that will get you in the Christmas spirit, such as Christmas decorations, trinkets, and candles.
It's perfect for yourself, and I think it would also make a great gift for friends or loved ones.
Just choosing which one to get is enough to make you happy.
There are also limited-edition goods available only at this venue.
Santa's expression is just so adorable.
In addition to these, there are other items such as the ever-popular mug (600 yen), clear files (350 yen), and masking tape (600 yen for a set of two).
The products are only available while supplies last, so if you find something you like, why not buy it?
Next, let me introduce the food booths. You can enjoy authentic German flavors such as sausages and roasted almonds.
When you think of Munich, you think of sausages, right?
A great accompaniment to this meal is mulled wine. Drinking it will warm you up nicely.
In addition, some establishments offer "hot beer," which is made by warming up fruit beer, so be sure to check those out as well.
Even if it snows, rest tents are provided inside the venue so you can enjoy food and drinks, so you can relax and enjoy yourself.
During the event period, there will be two "Present Days" every Sunday at 12:30 and 14:00. You will receive one raffle ticket for every purchase of 1,000 yen or more at any store in the venue.
You might receive a wonderful present from Santa Claus.
If you're planning to go to the venue on Sunday, please give it a try!
An advent calendar counting down to Christmas was set up inside the venue.
What kind of pictures will we be able to see at Christmas? I can't wait until Christmas!
The Weihnachts Pavilion, which can also be used as a rest area, has an environmentally friendly wood pellet stove, so you can warm yourself here when it gets cold.
Here, there are volunteer concierges who can answer questions about the Christmas market, and there are also Christmas-themed picture books available.

3. Events at the Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo
Next, we will introduce the Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo (Odori Park 2-chome).
You can participate in the illumination lighting ceremony at the Odori Park 2-chome venue, which takes place every Wednesday and Friday during the period.
Registration will begin 10 minutes before the lighting ceremony starts. Those wishing to participate should go to the information desk inside the venue on the day of the event (first-come, first-served basis).
In addition, outdoor events will include performances of handbells, dance, and singing.
Indoors, there will be a variety of events unique to a Christmas market, such as workshops on how to make mulled wine and potato snacks, and how to make Christmas decorations!
The event content varies depending on the date.
For further information, please read http://www.sapporo-christmas.com/event/schedule.htmlPlease check.
Also, Santa Claus will be making an appearance at the venue (weekdays from 16:00 PM to 20:00 PM, and weekends and holidays from 11:00 AM to 19:00 PM; times are subject to change).
You can also take pictures with Santa.

4. Access to the venue
This guide will provide information on how to access Odori Park 2-chome, the venue for the Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo.
If using public transportation, take the subway to Odori Station on the Namboku Line, Tozai Line, or Toho Line, or take the streetcar to Nishi 4-chome, and then walk to the venue.
If you're getting to the venue from JR Sapporo Station, you can take the subway or bus, but we also recommend walking through the Sapporo Station Underground Pedestrian Space (Chikaho). Since it's underground, you don't have to worry about walking on snowy roads.
The "Sapporo White Illumination" event takes place on Ekimae-dori Street from 4:30 PM to 10:00 PM, so if you're traveling during this time, it might be nice to take a walk along the street while enjoying the illuminations.
There are paid parking lots near the venue, but we recommend using public transportation when you come.
