On December 12, 2016, Mr. Takayuki Suzui tweeted a photo of himself and two directors together, along with the caption, "Meeting finished. Wait for me, Yo Oizumi!"
Fans are buzzing with speculation that filming for a new episode of "Suiyou Dou Deshou," the first since "First Time in Africa" aired in 2013, might be about to begin.

The regular broadcast of "Suiyō Dōdeshō" ended in 2002, but it's clear that the show's popularity hasn't waned at all.
For all you fans of "How Do You Like Wednesday?" who are eagerly anticipating the new release, why not take a pilgrimage to the sacred sites in and around Sapporo?

1. Hiragishi Takadai Park

HTB Rooftop On-chan

For fans of the TV show "Suiyou Dou Deshou" who are doing a pilgrimage to the show's locations in Sapporo, one place they absolutely must visit is Hiragishi Takadai Park, which appears in the opening and closing segments of the program.

Although it's next to the HTB headquarters, the park itself doesn't face the road, so head towards the large On-chan statue that sits atop the HTB building to get to the park.

Hiragishi Heights Park

Upon arriving at the park, a familiar sight for fans of the show unfolds before your eyes!

On the day I visited, I saw someone who appeared to be a samurai taking pictures in the park with a camera.

Now, let's try to find the same camera angles as in the opening and closing segments of the program!

Address: 8, Hiragishi 4-jo 13-chome, Toyohira-ku, Sapporo City, Hokkaido

2. HTB Headquarters

HTB Headquarters

After enjoying Hiragishi Takadai Park, let's immerse ourselves in the world of "How Do You Like Wednesday?" at the HTB headquarters. In addition to On-chan on the roof, you can also see On-chan at the entrance.

HTB Entrance

At the entranceYasudaPanels featuring On-chan and Ok-chan will greet you upon arrival.

The face-in-the-hole panel has the date printed on it, so we recommend taking a commemorative photo here for your visit to HTB Honmaru!

On-chan

As you step inside, a large On-chan illuminated by the lights appears before your eyes!

How about the exhibition?
To the left of On-chan is the "How Do You Like Wednesday?" exhibition corner. Costumes and props actually used in the show are on permanent display, so take your time and enjoy the exhibits!

Merchandise vending machine

Opposite the permanent exhibition area is a vending machine selling merchandise. From the vending machine, you can purchase items such as a "Suiyou Dou Deshou" ballpoint pen, a mini mirror featuring a simplified On-chan and Chicken Alien, Dou Deshou stickers, and On-chan merchandise. There is also a change machine next to the vending machine, so enthusiastic fans might find themselves buying more merchandise than they intended.

How about the gacha?

Next to the vending machine, there's a gacha machine. There's even a "How Do You Like Wednesday?" gacha machine exclusive to the HTB headquarters, so I might end up spinning that too many times.

In addition, the merchandise sales corner offers three different commemorative stamps. One of them is a "How Do You Like Wednesday?" stamp that says "HTB Honmaru Raid Commemoration." Stamp sheets are also available, so why not get a stamp as a memento of your visit to HTB?

On-chan Cafe

There's also an On-chan Cafe on the premises! It's the perfect place to relax after enjoying Hiragishi Takadai Park and the HTB headquarters♪

3. Sapporo Clock Tower

札幌時計台

The Sapporo Clock Tower is also a sacred site that the "How Do You Like Wednesday?" crew visited in "A Journey Across Japan by Postcard 2".

In "A Journey Across Japan by Postcard 2," the first place visited was Itako City in Ibaraki Prefecture, and the postcard that Mr. Takayuki Suzui drew was of the Sapporo Clock Tower. This meant that they had to return to Sapporo City on the very first day of the project, giving rise to the famous line, "Can't we somehow cheat?"

Even if you're not a samurai, the Sapporo Clock Tower is a classic tourist spot that everyone will want to visit. However, if you visit it as a pilgrimage site from "Postcard Journey 2," you might get a completely different impression.

4. Sapporo Clock Tower Building

Square in front of the Clock Tower Building

The plaza in front of the Sapporo Clock Tower Building appears in the final episodes of "Operation Capture the Cherry Blossom Front," which features the abduction of Yo Oizumi in the next segment, "Tokachi Twenty-Match Challenge," before the "Hong Kong Grand Tour." The location where they attempt to abduct Mr. Oizumi but end up abducting Yo Oizumi himself is the plaza in front of the Sapporo Clock Tower Building. Since it's the building next to the Clock Tower, you can visit that as well.

Both segments are scenes that were omitted from the rebroadcast of "How Do You Like Wednesday? Classic," so these are sacred sites that only those who bought the DVD or watched it in real time would know about.

5. Noboribetsu Welcome Oni Statue

Noboribetsu Welcome Oni Statue

Noboribetsu City, about an hour and a half from Sapporo by highway, is a stop on the way from Toyokoro Town to Shikabe Town in the "Hokkaido 212 Municipalities Country Sign Journey." During that visit, Yo Oizumi provides the voiceover for the "Noboribetsu Welcome Oni Statue," saying, "Shikabe is this way!"

This demon statue is located along Noboribetsu Onsen Street, in front of the Noboribetsu East Interchange on the Hokkaido Expressway. There is parking space in front of the statue, so you can take your time to admire it.

6. Lake Toya

Lake Toya

Also in the "Hokkaido 212 Municipalities Country Sign Journey," after the How Do You Like Wednesday? crew stayed one night at Noboribetsu Onsen, they stopped in Toyako Town, famous for its hot springs, before heading to Shikabe Town.

Lake Toya offers a variety of ways to enjoy the scenery from the water on sightseeing boats and motorboats, as well as shopping for souvenirs on Nakajima Island in the middle of the lake. However, the "How Do You Like Wednesday?" crew, who were short on time, enjoyed a 15-minute cruise on Lake Toya aboard a yellow motorboat called "Phantom."

There are several sightseeing boat and boat docks along the shores of Lake Toya, so look for the yellow motorboat with "Phantom" written on it!

7. Drive-in Kanaya

Drive-in Kanaya

In the "Three-Night Consecutive Overnight Bus Trip," the "Drive-in Kanaya" appeared as a rest stop on the Aurora bus from Sapporo to Hakodate. It's also famous as a drive-in known for its crab rice bento box, a specialty of Oshamanbe town.

Incidentally, the "Aurora" train has now been renamed the "Hakodate Express" and, unlike before, runs on a route that utilizes expressways.
