サッポロさとらんどA steam locomotive bus makes a refreshing run through the park; Mount Moere can be seen in the background.

Sapporo Satoland is a facility themed around "interaction between people and agriculture/nature" and "coexistence between urban areas and agriculture."

This theme park allows you to appreciate the importance of food.
This is a place I would especially recommend visiting if you have young children.

This time, we visited Sapporo Satoland, a rural park that connects the city and agriculture, located very close to the center of Sapporo!

Sapporo Satoland 1-Minute Summary Video

For those who want a quick overview of the area, we've created a one-minute summary video!

1. Satoland's "Harvesting Experience"

Why not try harvesting safe and secure vegetables with your own hands?

サッポロさとらんどThe blueberries are ripe and ready for harvest from late July.

One of the biggest attractions of Sapporo Satoland is that it is an experiential facility.
At this "experiential farm," you can harvest seasonal agricultural products grown in Hokkaido with your own hands.

サッポロさとらんど

There are other vegetables that can be harvested as well.

A variety of vegetables can be harvested depending on the season.
The harvest peaks around mid-July and can be enjoyed until around October.

サッポロさとらんどEnjoy harvesting while following the rules!

Today's harvest experience is "asparagus." Freshly picked asparagus is 150 yen per 100 grams!
This price is incredibly reasonable, especially considering the enjoyment of harvesting it yourself!
Some housewives who live nearby even harvest them to use in their dinner menus for the night.

サッポロさとらんどWhich one should I choose? Everyone is trying really hard to decide.

The best time to go is in the morning. There's a daily harvest limit, and once that limit is reached, it ends.
Vegetables harvested early in the day are incredibly fresh and offer great value!

サッポロさとらんどLet's collect something longer than the stick we were given.

サッポロさとらんどCut the asparagus at the base.

サッポロさとらんどThe moisture dripping from the cut surface is a sign of freshness.

All the necessary equipment is provided, so you can participate without bringing anything.
There's no time limit, so you can take your time to carefully examine and harvest.

Calling all kids who have only ever seen vegetables in supermarkets!
There's so much to learn from the vegetables that grow in the land of Hokkaido.
Please enjoy it with your family!

The types of vegetables harvested change with the seasons.
Prices vary depending on the type of vegetable being harvested, so please check the official website for details.

2. Satoland Center also offers "handmade craft experiences."

Why not try making homemade butter?

サッポロさとらんど"Satorand Center"

This facility is the park's command center, the "Satorand Center." Inside the center, you'll find an information desk that answers visitors' questions, as well as a restaurant, a gift shop, and an information room filled with picture books.

サッポロさとらんどOld farm machinery in the "Interesting Information Room"

And what you can experience inside the center is "handmade crafting."
You can make your own original butter in our handmade butter making experience for 350 yen.

In addition, children can enjoy delicious and exciting experiences such as making sausages and ice cream depending on the season.

サッポロさとらんどMy own original butter

I'm looking forward to seeing it on the breakfast table tomorrow morning!

3. The ride experience is fun!

Which ride will you choose? Take your time exploring the spacious park!

サッポロさとらんどColorful four-wheeled vehicles are everywhere!

Inside the park, you'll frequently encounter colorful four-wheeled vehicles accompanied by lively voices.
From 2-seater to 4-seater models!

A bike that the whole family can ride together sounds like so much fun!
It's so heartwarming to see them all working together to overcome that small slope!

サッポロさとらんどWhich one should I choose? Deciding is part of the fun.

■ Bicycle rental (1 hour within the park)
Motorcycles: 100 yen
Four-wheeled vehicle: 300 yen
Rental time: 1 hour between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM
(Registration is open until 4 PM)

サッポロさとらんどIt looks like it could take flight at any moment! The dreamy and luxurious steam locomotive bus "Potato-go"

The classic way to get around is by steam locomotive bus.

The SL bus, which traverses the park, connects the park's command center, "Satoland Center," with the "Satoland Exchange Hall," where agricultural and livestock products are sold. You can also get off at the "Experience Farm" and "Minori no Ie" (where you can get advice on vegetable cultivation) along the way (you can get off up to two times).
One lap takes approximately 25 minutes.

■SL Bus (1 lap of the course)
Adults: 300 yen
Children: 150 yen
Operating hours: 10:00-11:30, 13:00-16:00

サッポロさとらんどTaking a stroll while admiring seasonal flowers is truly enriching!

The ride takes about 15 minutes. You'll leisurely walk around the course while listening to the sound of the horses' hooves.
Enjoy a luxurious moment while admiring the beautiful flowers of each season.

■Horse-drawn carriage (one lap of the course)
Adults: 400 yen
Children: 200 yen
Operating hours: 10:30-11:30, 13:30-15:30

サッポロさとらんどThe key to horseback riding is maintaining balance through weight transfer.

An attendant will lead the horse, so even first-timers and children can ride with peace of mind.
Children aged 5 and up can participate.
The process takes approximately 5 minutes.

■ Lead-rein horse (one lap of the course)
Adults: 500 yen
Children: 200 yen
Operating hours: 10:30-11:30 and 13:30-16:00

Many of these rides will likely be new experiences for you, won't they?
The prices are incredibly reasonable; it's amazing that children can ride everything and still get change back from 1000 yen.
Why not try a memorable experience?

4. Charming Animals

Lots of animals are waiting for you inside the park!

サッポロさとらんどThat sheep is staring right at me, I wonder if it wants some food?

サッポロさとらんどAre they trying to escape the heat? They're relaxing in the shade.

サッポロさとらんどI want to eat grass too, but I can't reach it!

There are many animals at the "Petting Zoo".
You can also feed the goats and sheep. (Fee applies)

We are limiting the quantity because giving them too much can upset their stomachs.
Be sure to check the start time!!

■ Feeding experience
Price: 100 yen
Time 10:30-11:30 13:30-15:30
Weekdays: Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays only

5. Milk Village

We visited the Milk House located inside Satoland!

サッポロさとらんどA factory suddenly appeared in the middle of Satoland Park!

There is a Satsuraku milk factory on the grounds of Satoland.
Here, you can actually tour the milk production line.

They also produce yogurt and butter, which can be purchased at the shop located near the factory.

You can take a free factory tour here.
Since you can see the manufacturing line, just like you see on TV, with your own eyes, it seems that for many young children, it's their first exciting factory tour.

サッポロさとらんどPlease refrain from taking videos or photos from this point onward.

If you're interested in milk factories, be sure to see them for yourself!

The "Milk Museum" allows visitors to learn about the entire process of milk production, from the manufacturing line to the inspection system.
You might come to appreciate the milk you drink every day.

サッポロさとらんどYou can enjoy Genghis Khan (grilled lamb) inside the house.

Within Satoland, in an area designated as "Milk Village," you'll find the "Milk Hall" of the milk factory, as well as the "Makiba-kan Handmade Workshop" where you can buy fresh dairy products, and the "BBQ House" where you can enjoy a meal.

Among all the places you should definitely visit is "The House of Cows".
You can get up close and see cows that are not tethered eating hay with gusto.

sapporo-satoland-023_RI can hear the sound of delicious munching.

The facility attached to it offers a "simulated cow milking experience" where visitors can enjoy seeing and touching the animals.
Entry to the cowshed is free, but there is a charge for the milking experience (100 yen per session).

サッポロさとらんどThe size and shape are incredibly realistic!!

サッポロさとらんどCows have four stomachs!!

This panel provides a detailed explanation of "how food becomes milk."
Dairy products are very familiar foods in our daily lives, so I think it will be an interesting visit.
