Obihiro and Tokachi are famous as cities in Hokkaido known for their delicious sweets, so much so that they are called the "Kingdom of Sweets, Tokachi."
The confectionery shop I'd like to introduce today is located in Obihiro and uses ingredients sourced from Tokachi.
I visited "Tokachi Toteppo Kobo," a shop that offers sweets packed with Tokachi ingredients, including cheesecakes made with natural cheese from Tokachi, as well as milk and fresh cream!

Final thoughts
1. What is the confectionery workshop "Tokachi Toteppo Workshop"?

In August 2010, a confectionery workshop opened along "Toteppo Street" in downtown Obihiro.
"Toteppo Street" refers to a pedestrian walkway next to shops surrounded by greenery.

In the past, there were railway tracks, and small steam locomotives transported sugar beets, the raw material for sugar.
It seems that it played an active role in transporting goods from farmland to factories until its decommissioning in February 1977.
Tokachi is a vast, naturally rich land where the Hidaka Mountains and the Daisetsuzan mountain range stretch out.
Blessed with a favorable climate and fertile land, it is the top producer in Japan of almost all of its products, including potatoes, pumpkins, adzuki beans, corn, wheat, asparagus, sugar beets, and milk.

We create sweets that are packed with the best of Tokachi, sweets that are made with a focus on Tokachi, at "Tokachi Toteppo Kobo".

"Tokachi Toteppo Workshop" is a small workshop with a cafe and shop attached.
We are spreading happiness through our sweets while weaving together the history of Tokachi.
2. Popular sweets made in our workshop, packed with the flavors of Tokachi.

We asked around about popular sweets. Hopefully, this will help you choose your next treat!
"Three kinds of cheese"

A masterpiece from Tokachi Toteppo Workshop.
The ingredients include a blend of three cheeses from Tokachi: cream cheese, goat cheese, and mascarpone cheese.
Bite-sized cheesecakes baked in the traditional style.
The rich, creamy cheese and crispy tart crust will melt in your mouth.
149 yen each (tax included)
"Lune de Fromage"

A collaboration of soufflé and baked goods.
The raspberry jam adds a delightful accent. This cheesecake lets you enjoy two types of cheese at once.
370 yen each (tax included)
"Beetroot Pudding"

"Beet Sugar Pudding" topped with beet sugar jelly: a gentle flavor that isn't too sweet.
The eggs, milk, sugar, and fresh cream are all from Tokachi.
280 yen each (tax included)
"Beetroot Shortcake"

The sponge cake has a natural color from beet sugar. It's a shortcake with just the right amount of sweetness.
270 yen each (tax included)
"Tokiiro Farm's Ripe Raspberry Chocolates"

The sweetness of the chocolate and the tartness of the raspberries grown at "Tokiiro Farm" in Iwanai-cho, Obihiro City, are in perfect balance.
The moist, smooth, mousse-like texture is exceptional. Available all year round.
360 yen each (tax included)
"Tokachi Fresh Fromage"

A cheesecake made with Tokachi Fresh from Tokachi 9 Workshop.
The tartness of the haskap berries and the orange sauce create a perfect combination.
360 yen each (tax included)
"Locomotive Sable"

"Locomotive Sable" is a baked confection shaped like a small steam locomotive.
Made with subtly sweet beet sugar and plenty of fermented butter from Hokkaido.
Made with Hokkaido-grown wheat flour, these shortbread cookies have a crispy texture and are a popular souvenir.
12 pieces, 648 yen (tax included)
3. Introducing Tokachi-produced cheese
We also have a wide selection of cheeses from Tokachi.

Popular items include "Raclette" from Kyodo Gakusha Shintoku Farm, "Wasabi Soy Sauce Pickled Mozzarella" from Shikaoi Cheese Factory, and "Delicious Camembert" from Tokachino Fromage.
Raclette is made by melting one side of a cheese in a frying pan or on a hot plate with the rind still on, then scraping it off with a knife and serving it with boiled potatoes or bread.

Wasabi soy sauce marinated mozzarella can be enjoyed on its own, but it can also be cut into small pieces and used as an accent in salads, and apparently it even goes well with ochazuke (rice with tea) and natto (fermented soybeans)!
Camembert cheese is great with wine, and it's also good to eat with apples.
We can ship to various locations.
4. Relaxing time spent at the attached cafe

At the cafe attached to Totepo Workshop, you can enjoy the sweets you purchased from the display case right there!
Some people even try the sweets at this cafe before deciding on souvenirs.
The cafe has a self-service drink bar.

I had "Three Kinds of Fromage" at a cafe.

It's a small and cute-looking cheesecake, but it has a rich cheese flavor.
The rich and complex flavor of the three types of cheese is amazing! It's not too sweet, so it's recommended even for those who don't like sweet things.

You can also watch the pastry chefs at work from the cafe windows.

Enjoy a peaceful moment relaxing while gazing at the idyllic scenery from the cafe.
5. Let's take a stroll along Toteppo Street.

I took a stroll along "Toteppo Street" located next to the store.

Tokachi Railway Steam Locomotive No. 4 is preserved about a 5-6 minute walk from Toteppo Workshop.
The Tokachi Railway was affectionately known as "Toteppo" by many people.
After enjoying some sweets, it would be nice to take a stroll and go see some steam locomotives.

6. Access to Tokachi Toteppo Workshop

Access
