Toyohira Park
Toyohira Park is a beloved place of relaxation for the citizens of Sapporo.

Located on the former site of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's Forestry Experiment Station, this approximately 7.4-hectare park is a lush green space featuring flowerbeds, a coniferous tree sample garden, a flowering tree garden cultivating various roses, a wild flower garden, as well as small fountains, ponds, playgrounds, and tennis courts.

On August 2, 2016, the "Green Center" relocated and reopened on the same site. The new Green Center is located in a different location from the old one, right next to Toyohira Park Station on the Toho Subway Line, making it much more accessible.

So, this time, we'll introduce the charms of the newly renovated Green Center and Toyohira Park, a healing space rich in nature.

Toyohira Park "Green Center"

The Toyohira Park Green Center, which reopened on August 2, 2016, was relocated from its previous location in the middle of the park to a location right next to Exit 1 of Toyohira Park Station on the Toho Subway Line, due to the aging of the old Green Center.

On the day of the grand reopening, a commemorative event was held, featuring a free distribution of herb seedlings and a mini-concert, which attracted a long line of over 100 people.

The new two-story wooden Green Center has been renovated into a bright and open space.
The new facility is larger than the old one, and the atrium has a two-story open structure with skylights that let in plenty of bright sunlight.

The facility has been made barrier-free and now includes an elevator, making it easily accessible for people in wheelchairs.

The shop is located next to the atrium and sells potted plants, seedlings, and other items.
The "Green Consultation Corner," located across from the shop, is a place where consultants with specialized knowledge about gardening can answer a variety of questions.

You can get advice on how to care for the flowers you've purchased, and we also offer advice on garden design and cultivation.

Toyohira Park "Green Center"

The "Green Book Corner" features a wide selection of specialized books on gardening, landscaping, and nature, which visitors can browse freely. There is also a space where you can sit and read.

There were also many people who were reading at a leisurely pace.

Toyohira Park "Green Center"

Upon going up to the second floor, you'll find a spacious and open area with a comfortable resting space.

The facility includes lecture halls and meeting rooms, where various workshops and events are held.
You can check various events and workshops on the "Annual Workshop Schedule" page of our website.

The greenhouse area is partitioned off, but it's not particularly hot.
It's a small space, but it's filled with a variety of plants.

The rooftop garden has a relaxation area, and it's a very open and relaxing place, which is one of my favorite spots.

Stepping inside the park, you'll find yourself in a lush, natural landscape that's hard to believe is in a residential area of Sapporo.

Here, you can enjoy a variety of plants depending on the season, such as tulips, roses, hydrangeas, and herbs.

Time flows slowly here, with people enjoying their time in their own way—walking their dogs in the park, going for a stroll, or reading on a bench.

Toyohira Park "Green Center"

There is a small fountain plaza within the park.
There's a rest area, and it's also a PokéStop for the currently popular "Pokémon GO," so young people are gathering there to escape the heat.

In addition, there is a pond, a rest area, and in the flower garden, you can find various roses, as well as an arch of climbing roses.

The play area features swings with safety guards that even toddlers can use, as well as several colorful pieces of playground equipment.
There is also a grassy area, providing a safe environment for children to play.

Toyohira Park "Green Center"

The "Coniferous Tree Sample Garden" is a garden featuring coniferous trees from both Japan and abroad. It's a secluded space with nothing else around, but it's a great place to sit on a bench and spend some leisurely time.

There are also other areas such as sample flowerbeds, a wild flower garden, and a flowering tree garden.

There are tennis courts in the park. There are two hard courts, and they can be used for 640 yen per hour.
Reservations are required to use the tennis courts. (Tennis court reservation line: 011-818-3202)

Toyohira Park has a parking lot available for park visitors.
However, please note that it will be closed on event days at the adjacent "Kitaeru" venue.

The parking lot can get crowded at times, so it's best to use public transportation, especially on weekends.

Located right next to Exit 1 of Toyohira Park Station on the Toho Subway Line, and about a 6-minute walk from the Toyohira 3-jo 12-chome bus stop (accessible by Chuo Bus from Sapporo Terminal), this property boasts excellent accessibility.

<Conclusion>

Toyohira Park is a popular "place of relaxation" for Sapporo residents, where they can feel close to nature while still being in the city.

As soon as you step into the park, the houses are hidden by the trees and disappear from view, making you forget that you're in a residential area.

Many people spend their time here as they please, whether it's taking a walk or reading, making it a relaxing spot perfect for unwinding and refreshing yourself.

Why not take a look around the newly renovated Toyohira Park yourself?
