Hokkaido ski resorts are appealing because of their light, powdery snow.
Compared to the long lines for lifts at ski resorts around the Kanto region, it's nice to be able to ski at a more relaxed pace.
When you think of ski resorts in Hokkaido, you probably often hear names like Niseko and Tomamu, but the one we're introducing today is Mount Racey Ski Resort in Yubari!
It's a hidden gem of a ski resort, conveniently located near Sapporo and New Chitose Airport, and enjoyable for beginners, advanced skiers, and families alike.
I'll be sharing the charms of the Mount Racey ski resort in Yubari.

Originally a local ski resort operated by a third-sector company in Yubari City, it was transformed into a luxurious resort ski area during the bubble economy.
It was later transferred to Yubari City, but after Yubari City's financial collapse, it was sold again.
Currently, the resort is operated by a Chinese company, the former Ooyubari Resort, and has become a popular ski resort for tourists from China.

2. Access from Sapporo New Chitose Airport
Actually, Mount Racey ski resort is the closest ski resort to New Chitose Airport.
It's easily accessible, about a 60-minute drive. Take the expressway from Chitose-Higashi IC to Yubari IC, then cross National Route 274 and it's about a 30-minute drive from Yubari IC.
Since you can avoid driving on rough roads like mountain passes, this is great news for those who are worried about driving on snowy roads.
It's about a 90-minute drive from central Sapporo.
Since the ski resort is located right in front of JR Yubari Station, it is possible to use JR trains, but there aren't many trains, so using the shuttle bus is recommended.
3. Course and snow conditions
This ski resort boasts a total of 18 courses, ranging from beginner slopes with a maximum gradient of approximately 15 degrees to the 45-degree Raccoon Line and Carving Line.
Therefore, it's guaranteed to satisfy skiers of all levels, from beginners to super-advanced!
In addition, there is a freestyle park available, perfect for snowboarders who want to enjoy the sport to the fullest.
With a kicker of about 6 meters, poles, a box rainbow, and more, there are plenty of great features for snowboarders who want to enjoy jibbing.
For advanced skiers, we recommend the thrilling lines that allow you to ski through nature. Un-groomed courses offer a wild experience with a series of sharp turns and weaving through the trees.
4. Great for kids too! A wide range of school options available.
When going skiing with family, you might struggle with the dilemma of wanting to teach your kids how to ski but also wanting to ski to your heart's content.
However, the Kids Beginner School is for children aged 3 to 3rd grade of elementary school, so families with preschool children can rest assured.
This is an indoor artificial ski slope where you can start off having fun, just like playing in a park. Once you've gotten used to it, you can move to the kids' park which has a snow escalator.
For children, there's no need to worry about the high hurdle of going up and down the ski lift, and they can ski over and over again, so they're sure to improve!
5. Great deals and promotions
Lift tickets for Mount Racey Ski Resort cost 5000 yen for a one-day pass for adults, and 4000 yen during the early season and spring skiing season from December 2nd to December 15th and from March 19th to April 8th.
We also have a variety of great value packages, such as lunch packages that include lunch, and hot spring packages that combine a visit to the hot springs.
Additionally, preschool children can use the lifts for free, and there's also the "Yuki Maji! 19" campaign, which allows those born between April 2, 1999 and April 1, 2001 to get free lift tickets by downloading the app.
For information on downloading the app and other details, please visit this website .

The accommodation, "Hotel Mount Racey," is located right next to the gondola station as soon as you exit the hotel's connecting corridor.
There are lockers available exclusively for guests, allowing you to enjoy your stay without being burdened by your belongings.
On the first floor, there's a Chinese hot pot restaurant, the first of its kind in Japan. They also offer lunch sets, and a nice bonus is that they accept lunch packs with lift tickets.
In addition, you can enjoy plenty of food from morning till evening at Lupinus, which serves breakfast and dinner buffets, and the cafe terrace, which is popular for its famous Yubari melon bread.
7. Conclusion
This time, I've compiled information about the Mount Racey ski resort in Yubari.
Mount Racey might be a slightly niche ski resort, but it's conveniently located near New Chitose Airport and Sapporo!
The lift tickets and accommodation rates are also affordable! That's why many people are repeat visitors who come every season.
